What Is Pediatric Restorative Dentistry?

Unlike adult dentistry, pediatric restoration is about being fast, effective, and preserving space. We use techniques that are designed for smaller mouths and shorter attention spans, ensuring your child stays comfortable while we restore their tooth’s health and strength.

Our Services

Gentle Care For Kids

Tooth-Colored Fillings

Composite & Resin

For small to mid-sized cavities, we provide natural-looking composite and resin restorations. These tooth-colored fillings are designed to blend in seamlessly with your child’s natural teeth while restoring their strength and function. We prioritize conservative treatments that preserve as much of the natural tooth structure as possible.

Baby Tooth Root Canals

Pulpotomy

When decay reaches the pulp of a primary tooth, a Pulpotomy may be necessary to save it. Often called a Baby Tooth Root Canal, this procedure removes the affected tissue and medicates the area to keep the tooth functional until it is ready to fall out naturally. Save your child’s natural tooth and relieve discomfort with our gentle pulpotomy care.

White Strip Crowns For Front Teeth

When decay affects the anterior (front) teeth, we use white strip/resin crowns to provide a beautiful, natural-looking result. These crowns are designed to match the shade of your child’s smile while providing the full coverage needed to protect the tooth from further damage. It is the perfect balance of aesthetic beauty and clinical durability.

Durable Silver Caps & Stainless Steel Crowns

For posterior (back) teeth with extensive decay or those that have undergone a pulpotomy, Stainless Steel Crowns provide the necessary strength and durability. These “Silver Caps” protect the tooth from further breakage and stay securely in place until the permanent tooth is ready to arrive. Restore your child’s chewing strength with a durable, long-lasting restoration.

Does Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) look different?

Yes, it does turn the decayed part of the tooth dark. However, for many parents, the trade-off of “no needles and no drills” is well worth it, especially for back teeth!

The crown is designed to stay on until the baby tooth falls out. When the tooth goes, the crown goes with it!

We make sure the tooth is completely “asleep” before we start. Most kids feel immediate relief once the pressure from the decay is gone.

While both options avoid the drill, they serve different purposes. Silver Diamine Fluoride (SDF) is a powerful liquid used to instantly stop active decay from progressing, though it can leave a dark spot on the tooth. Curodont™ Repair is a clear, “smart” liquid used for very early-stage cavities; it works by mimicking natural tooth biology to help the enamel rebuild itself from the inside out. We will recommend the best needle-free approach based on the location and stage of your child’s cavity.

The choice of crown depends on which tooth is affected and how much strength is required. White Strip Crowns are made of a resin material that looks natural and beautiful, making them ideal for anterior (front) teeth. For posterior (back) teeth, which do the heavy lifting for chewing, we typically use Stainless Steel Crowns (Silver Caps). These are much more durable and provide the necessary strength to protect a back tooth until it naturally falls out.
